It has ended. Several people concluded with thanking city council and the mayor for what they called a “facts finding forum.” There was a lot of misinformation and confusion with the potential new ICE detention center in Newport and people thinking the city was supporting it.

DHS has said to be considering moving into a Newport Coast Guard air facility at the Newport Municipal airport, after they already displaced a Coast Guard helicopter some weeks ago at the property, concerning city officials who rely on that helicopter for safety along the Oregon’s coastline.

A noticeable lack of ICE agents, CBP, ERO, BORTAC agents etc… the feds in navy are all DHS police, but all the feds in fatigues are Bureau of Prisons federal officers. Definitely more BoP officers than what we have typically been seeing here

Before the march even took off from the nearby park, word reached folks who had gathered that the US Gestapo had already been randomly shooting pepper balls at people from the roof. This continued once the other group of protesters arrived regardless of the fact that ppl were just standing around.

Earlier today in Gresham, Oregon (a suburb just outside of Portland), a US citizen was detained by ICE after taking photos of their unmarked vehicles. US Gestapo smashed the persons car windows before detaining them. They have since been released.

Fortunately for the large portion of the group that got pushed back behind me, the wind was working in their favor. Even after most cleared out, feds continued shooting tear gas canisters & flash grenades down from the roof. Multiple ppl got hit with canisters, thankfully no one in their head afaik
