It’s not enough for train companies to tell us these overcrowded conditions are safe - they have to make us FEEL safe.

* the first class thing doesn’t provide security either as that is regularly declassified to deal with overcrowding in the rest of the train. It’s not a case of wanting special treatment - simply to avoid claustrophobia and panic. No other alternatives.

Too often 5 carriages turn up instead of 10 and 100s of pre-booked seats disappear, putting mental health under enormous strain every time we travel. GWR say they’ve had to lease fewer trains to reduce spending in line with budget and therefore have nothing spare when repairs are needed…

I’ve been raising the issue of mental health and train travel with GWR. Unreliability and frightening overcrowding London-Swansea make journeys extremely stressful and I’ve resorted to buying first class tickets I can’t afford in an attempt to feel more secure and avoid claustrophobia and panic.

Hello GWR. I am on the 10.22 Swansea to Paddington train which (as also happened on our journey up a week ago) has been reduced from 10 carriages to 5 and is therefore dangerously overcrowded. What are you going to do about this continuous dangerous disruption to your fare-paying passengers?
