Richard is also up for the Bloody Scotland Debut Prize announced TODAY so I basically have all of my fingers and toes crossed for at least one of these two exceptional prizes.

I also have become slightly obsessed with Long Story Short on Netflix. It's so funny! And also melancholy, and moving, and just really brilliant. Thoroughly recommended for anyone looking for some smart new tv.

I also read some great books while I was off for a few days - Selfish Girls (excellent on tangled sibling relationships); the new novel by Hayley Scrivenor, Girl Falling, and Abigail Dean's The Death of Us, which was very tough to read at times but incredibly moving.

(Oh and writing complaint emails about the fact a courier company left my brand new bike in a box outside my house in full view of everyone - didn't even close our gate - and unsurprisingly, it was stolen immediately. Thanks guys)

He is 4 and a half and I am hoping this will be a lovely way to get to school when he starts next month, but am slightly worried I will now be too unfit to cycle with his added weight. Ah, for the days I cycled into work every day and was actually fit and healthy...
