Part of what I enjoy about the role of poetry editor: being granted access to literary interpretations of world events and getting a globalized glimpse into many people’s lives, even when the work isn’t autobiographical. Not many get that privilege.

Holy shit, why even exhibit this piece if you’re going to totally wipe away that it’s about the artist’s boyfriend slowly dying of aids?? What’s the POINT if you take that away?

Biden’s rationale for the majority of his pardons: If these individuals were sentenced under current laws, they would’ve been released already.

Trump’s rationale for the majority of his pardons: These are my supporters, who cares what they did?

Currently reading… and wishing so many others were too.

I would caution people to stop relying on the Constitution as written to have any meaning other than what the people Trump put on the Supreme Court says it means.

"He can't do that" is not a useful response to the things he's going to do. The correct response is "Will the Court uphold that?"

"In the days ahead it will appear that they are winning, and we are losing. But if we use this opportunity to go deeper, to deal with the roots of our problems and national dysfunction, then we will be playing the long game - chess, not checkers."
