It's week 3 of fatherhood, and today I was granted special dispensation from shopping, housework, nappies & feeding, to do some macrophotography!

The highlight was this Oribatid mite (N. spinulosa) sporting long defensive spines, which I've nicknamed the Hellraiser mite!

🧬 New study on Brevipalpus flat mites reveals cryptic diversity and updated species relationships using morphology + mitochondrial and nuclear markers.

Key species: B. yothersi, B. californicus, B. papayensis, B. obovatus, B. mallorquensis, and B. oleae.

Eight new Tarsonemidae species were found from 633 slides at the Cuban Plant Quarantine Lab.
Daidalotarsonemus annonae now has the first male described, improving its taxonomy.
