Due to recent layoffs & hiring freezes at NOAA, there are fewer weather balloons sampling this system as it moves & develops.
The remaining meteorologists are warning that this system may be quite significant but advise that their datasets are incomplete at best & lack complete analysis.

NEW: The USDA acknowledged that over the weekend, it accidentally fired "several" agency employees who are working on the federal government's response to the H5N1 avian flu outbreak.

The agency adds it is trying to quickly reverse the firings.

CDC has issued a health advisory alert for the outbreak of Ebola in Uganda, caused by Sudan virus. There is also a Level 2 travel notice (practice enhanced precautions) for travelers to Uganda. Currently there are no cases outside Uganda.
