Sounds between 10 Hz and 20 kHz, electromagnetic radiation between 430 and 750 THz. I like to build things that make weird noises. Retired software engineer.
I've also had reasonable luck aggressively attacking anywhere the ivy can get to sunlight or water.

Usually the really big roots like above are headed for a source of water so that should help a ton. I had english ivy roots big enough I eventually took a chainsaw to them.

That has worked for me as well. A note of caution for folks that are lazy and forgetful like me. Don't forget you did that for years and let the vines take over again.

A less precise attack is to lightly hit the ivies with the weed eater leaving lots of damaged leaves and branches. Then carefully spray it with roundup. Ideally after a few days of no rain and on the morning of a bright and hot day.

The waxy leaves and endless roots make it hard to stop.

I hate to say it, but if poison ivy or invasive species are involved, I get out the undiluted Roundup.

Drill some holes near the base, fill it with roundup. Inject it straight into the veins.

Short of nuking it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

Be prepared for when it happens. And deploy all available resources when it does happen. No more warnings. Do not hesitate.
