Imagine the hubris that goes into saying that you are going to reset global trade and just pull the plug on the entire economy. These fools are making shit up and have no idea what they are doing or even why. But don't worry. They went long ages ago.
Trump’s cabinet can’t get their tariff story straight—They don’t agree with each other on what Trump’s plan is, but somehow we’re all stuck with the fallout.

It’s clear they didn’t see this coming.

More than 130,000 government pages have gone dark in a purge that one scientist likened to a “digital book burning.” A group of librarians and archivists are fighting back.

Phrases I'd like news reports to use:
• "unprovoked Russian invasion"
• "Gaza genocide"

Instead we get:
• "Ukraine's war with Russia"
(Russia is the aggressor, not Ukraine!)
• "the war in Gaza"
(Israel is murdering civilians!)

One of my companies informed me they cancelled a $2m conference in Florida. Why ?

They didn’t feel they could pass on the incremental cost of tariffs. So they are cutting expenses.

That’s a city that lost a ton of tourism revenue.

The cost of tariffs isn’t just the cost of the tariff

It’s 5 years since the WHO recognised COVID-19 as a pandemic. @kityates.bsky.social asks - why - when a pandemic was high on the risk register - did we fail to prepare for it? And how can we do better, next time?

Why did we fail to prepare for the pandemic?
If we do not re-examine what we did before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and learn lessons, then how can we expect to be better prepared for the next one.
