What fascinates me is the longevity of ownership cf. the Cavendish estates & anomalies eg historic rights of some Cumbrian farmers to graze sheep or cattle on a stint along the sea shore which seems to me ownership in a very real way, exclusive use of, income from, cannot be taken by another & so on

I think an autobiography promises a "soup to nuts" panoptic view of a life and never delivers. A memoir promises no more than an extract from the story of a life and often give's the reader the whole epic. The particular can give you the whole picture but the general wont give you the particular.

Something like "she's not afraid to voice her opinions/be critical" It's a compliment if u value directness as I do. Don't believe u only heard "she's direct" on moving to US nor that u are "puzzled" nor that u don't know what it means Got an agenda? Spit it out! Be direct if you want to be heard.
