They probably did. But responsible media would not have amplified the information. Usual practice is to wait for official statement if there are sensitivities involved. The official statement gave licence to broadcast ethnicity

EMA has the network and processes to do good regulation. And at one time MHRA was a very significant contributor to EMA’s work. Whether an emasculated MHRA can apply the same rigour remains to be seen.

Medicines regulation isn’t about how quickly you can put a product on the market. It’s there make sure our citizens are well served and protected. That means looking into the dark corners and skilfully checking and re-checking data to spot any lurking danger.
