Tbf, I don't think the sequel writers should've made the new republic pacifistic, but one of the things I would've liked Andor to do was to show liberal ineptness and criticise it. Mon Mothma is the best character, though.

That's true. Andor doesn't criticise the liberal pacifism that led to the rise of the First Order. Mon Mothma pleaded with Saw not to openly fight against the Empire, and then decided to demilitarise the new Republic afterwards. Still, somehow, Saw is presented as being crazy for being militaristic.

Andor, in the end, is about liberal triumph over fascism. It does that very well; some is pretty admirable, but it doesn't take much effort to criticise liberalism. Which is fine, it doesn't have to be. Maybe we'll get lucky, and Tony Gilroy writes another Star Wars show.
