To cut a long story short, the richest man in the world has recognised that representative democracies are, at this point, an impediment to his further accrual of wealth and power, and so is acting directly against those democracies. His peer group is following suit.
People framing Meta's new direction as "sucking up to Trump" seem to be ignoring the possibility that this is simply billionaire class solidarity in action.
Zuckerberg says Meta is going to "dramatically reduce censorship". Given Meta's track record, I don't think it's too difficult to forecast what type of content this move is going to end up promoting.
