One of the friendliest, well-organised, and completely inspiring conferences I’ve ever been to. What a privilege it is to be a part of this community.

To the organisers, hosts, and participants of #IAVCEI2025, I cannot thank you enough 🌋🖤

Thank you for being here, and for taking an interest in my work. I am truly blessed to work with so many incredible, talented, and ambitious individuals; without whom I wouldn’t be here, in a job I love, in a role like this. I count my lucky stars every single day…✨

Aside from science, I’m originally from Hebden Bridge, a small rural town in West Yorkshire. I thrive when outside in nature, and so always seek opportunities to explore new and interesting landscapes. Some of my favorite places on Earth (so far) include Iceland, La Palma, and Tenerife 💛

I’m incredibly lucky to have worked, and continue to work, on some incredible and exciting side-projects. These currently include: exploring millennia-scale interactions between volcanoes and climate, the impacts of extremely large eruptions, and high-temperature syn-eruptive processes 🌋

In the 3 years prior to moving to Switzerland, I was fortunate enough to complete my PhD: “Exploring the Quaternary mercury cycle” under the supervision of Tamsin Mather, @drsturobinson.bsky.social , and @davidmpyle.bsky.social . I defended my PhD in August 2024 🎓

I am currently based at the University of Basel in Switzerland, and have been here since September 2024 🇨🇭
As a postdoc within the Quaternary Geology group, I’m here to learn more about hydro climate change in SW Asia over the Holocene using stalagmites from Iraq, Iran, and Türkiye ☀️

My research combines paleoclimatology, volcanology, and geochemistry to explore how the Earth, and its climate system, has been shaped by dynamic processes throughout the Quaternary 🌍

To do this, I study natural archives like lake sediments, and speleothems 🌊 🌧️

Hello! Having recently just joined BlueSky, and been almost entirely absent on X over the past few months, I feel a re-introduction is needed! 🙌🏼

So, here is a little more about me, and the science I am (and have been) doing…
