Trans / Rad / Fem by ‪‪‪@taliabhatt.itch.io‬

I am so glad I picked this up.

These essays on transfeminism are powerful, precise and angry.

As a very white academic who studies trans lives, I'm happy I got some of my biases challenged. It's given me a lot to think about.

Back flow by @beedokfern.bsky.social

A cute story of trans self discovery and romance.

It was a fun short read.

I enjoyed how the story portrayed different aspects of mental health, especially the internalized stigma that some people have regarding themselves.

The dragon and her princess by @vyriadurav.bsky.social

A delicate balance between a wholesome journey of self discovery and a fight against oppression.

I would have wanted to spend more time with the characters, but in its current short format the story works.

Check it out if you can.

Just read Homunculus Tears by @inoriiltv.bsky.social

I'm a huge fan of the "I'm in love with the villainess" series, so I was quite excited for that one.

I had problems engaging with the story at first, as I thought it overexplained things a bit. I felt like the narrator was holding my hand.

I recently read "I Accidentaly Bought a Plant Lamp To Treat My Winter Depression And Now I've Take Root In My Apartment?" by @zandravandra.com‬ with illustrations by Ayla Arthur (t.co/FBC4hsnd13).

Next up is the Honeybloods series by ‪@isbelleauthor.bsky.social‬

I really quite enjoyed them.

It feels very human and honest. Despite it dealing with the supernatural, there's a very grounded vibe I appreciate. I like that it's not shy with the gory and messy details.

It's debatable how much you could call it a Carmilla retelling, but an Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson alternates pov between Carmilla and Laura.

While I'm talking about Carmilla retellings. I also read The Wolves of Styria by David Brian.

Not a bad book, but not my cup of tea.

It adds werewolves, so if you're into that you might like it.

I don't feel it improves the original text, nor that what was added needed to be.

Carmilla and Laura by @sdsimper.bsky.social is that retelling.

It knows precisely what to keep and what to change. What it adds makes so much sense.

I have read this one so many times. Definitely in my top 3.

I thought I'd start with the most obvious one.

Carmilla by Le Fanu.

Despite its age, it has a lot of sapphic goodness to offer. It's beautifully written, there is some dialog between Carmilla and Laura that I adore and that I re-read regularly.

Just finished reading (Kimmy) by @badambulist.bsky.social

I think it may have become my favourite book? Like ever.

It's brilliant as a story. All the metaphors work.

There's a speech at the end that shook me to my core like no piece of writing ever has.

So glad i picked it up!
