Assumed it to be crime novel fluff for my train ride but instead got character studies. Enjoyed the development. Was reminded of effects of generational trauma, lack of empathy, and not growing up with communication as the norm. Glad my pal found it for her trip and i copycatted.

February. Third read of 2025. It took me a long time to finish this illustrated novel because it was such an emotional experience for me personally as a second generation immigrant. Read this if you love Toronto and the people who make Toronto, Toronto.

January still. Finished my second read of 2025. Frank and unabashed but to me it was all foreplay and no connection. I was looking forward to a book where perimenopause was in the foreground but my honest reaction when I finished was: meh.
