Mentoring Slots still available!

It can be really helpful having an objective external sounding board - and that is what I offer! Sometimes churches pay for the mentoring (always great when a church sees the value!), but I also have a cheaper rate if you need to pay for it yourself!

Interested?

I had a great time a few weeks ago chatting with the lovely Melanie Cave from Roots for Churches about all things Children's Ministry - How do we journey well with struggling children? What is challenging behaviour and why does it happen? What is trauma?

Argh! What is said at the end of the first paragraph of this article about the beliefs of senior leaders in the Church of England (I can't read the rest behind a paywall) just ISN'T TRUE.

So, I'm going to be sketching the covers of the books I read in 2025 - trying to get back in to drawing / sketching. First up, 'The Old Ways' by @robgmacfarlane.bsky.social - luminous, fascinating, gob-smacking and just beautifully written.

Still buzzing from Carols at the Castle. Thrilled that youngest daughter sang in the band and SMASHED it, also thrilled that our small town (Clitheroe) could gather 2,500 people for this annual event! #Christmas #Carols

London please help. I’m praying for a miracle, I’ve just got into the office and noticed my mums locket (in all these photos) that I wear every day has fallen off my neck on my walk in. My mum died when I was seven and her jewellery is most of what I have of her. I’m devastated

This is pretty shocking, but not a surprise. SEN in particular needs an overhaul with a focus on therapeutic practice, the wellbeing of the children and young people, rather than grades and behaviour policies that aren't fit for purpose.

To be clear: I love the Guardian & Observer. I have devoted 20 years of my life to it. I believe it’s one of the most important platforms for liberal journalism in the world. And I’m one of 700+ journalists who believe this is profoundly wrong
700+ journalists at Britain’s only liberal newspaper(s) believe that something has gone so profoundly wrong in their own organisation that 93% of them have voted to go on strike

It’s no coincidence that Jesus’s primary metaphors for ministry were not soldiers, hunters, or builders,

But shepherds, farmers, and fisherman.

The humility. The unpredictability. The chaos. The waiting. None of it means we failed.

This is just what faithfulness looks like.
