If you really think about it, the patriarchy is actually a woman-centric system. Women do all the domestic and emotional labor, women propagate the “legacy,” women provide value to a household as a trade object (thereby also being the primary target of acquisition in a man’s life), women are the source of a man’s satisfaction (through taking pleasure or inflicting pain), women are the reason for everything, and therefore also the primary scapegoat for everything that happens to be going wrong in a man’s life. The entire system is based on women. Without their participation, it completely falls apart. If you’ve read or seen Lysistrata, you know what I mean. If not, look it up. Or look around. Because we’re literally living it now. I guess what I’m trying to say is: Keep it up, ladies. 😉

Holy shit. Choices were made here... The movie is excellent, though it's definitely biased in one direction and emotionally simplified (compared to the book). But I enjoyed it.

#bookrec I love the hell out of this series, I didn't connect with the couple here as much as I did the previous couples, possibly because of the characters' emotional disconnect (plot point, so intentional). Still a good, steamy book, and a fun read, though. 4/5 stars. 💙📚

#bookrec This is a 4/5 for me. I enjoyed reading it, but it's a book you don't revisit after it's done. Very much a literary work, so the plot will be slower, but well worth reading. Reminded me of Sophie's World. Well written, beautiful narrative, makes you think and feel bad for the characters. 💙📚
