From experience, whether you call out a friendly greeting, ring a bell or even slow down in an attempt to get past, the pedestrian still gets angry or gets a fright.

I had one about 10 years ago for a few months, comfortable big boat. I actually regret getting rid of it. It was a stop gap, but I could have got a couple of years out of it easily.

My first car was an Uno. Loved it, although I blew the headgasket several times doing doughnuts.....yep 1 litre FWD doughnuts 😂

Its called auto hold. Most modern cars have it. Press the brake for a second or so and it locks on. Their foot is not "jammed on the brake pedal". I agree its annoying but blame manufacturers, their handbooks encourage its use in stop start traffic etc.
