On that note if you’re looking for something soulslike but without the dickery I highly recommend checking out Ender Lilies and its sequel Ender Magnolia. Absolutely fantastic 2D games with beautiful art and gameplay that is truly tough but fair.

This is one of the biggest things that keep me from playing most soulslikes. I get they are meant to be hard but there’s a difference between “tough but fair challenge” and “handicapping you because you didn’t predict some ghoul was going to ambush you around a corner”.

My first exposure to Krampus was in the arcade light gun game CarnEvil where he appeared as the boss of the Rickety Town stage. Of course that version was just a generic “evil Santa” rather than the demonic goat man of the original myth.
