Glad that this image was not presented to me under a Rorschach test...

Actually, I think it was first described around 1843 by Theodor Scheerer in Espedalen, Norway (which he called Eisen-Nickelkies).

Ja, enig i at det hørtes fryktelig kostbart ut for å fjærne vannbasert maling.

Er erstatning på 1.2 millioner så absurd når de måtte bruke 2.4 millioner på opprydding?

Does not make sense that it is not extracted on a commercial basis if that is true. But yeah, fairly recent paper, and with the war and all🤷‍♂️ Still, not to step on anyone's toes. If Ukraine has this resource, it should benefit Ukraine, and not another country that feels entitled.

Found this. Its a MDPI article and i just read the abstract. No library acess outside the office either. "extraction via the mechanochemical treatment of the three most common lithium minerals... petalite crystal structure was much more suitable.. substantial lithium extraction of 84.9%".
Lithium Extraction and Zeolite Synthesis via Mechanochemical Treatment of the Silicate Minerals Lepidolite, Spodumene, and Petalite
Lithium is in high demand: this is driven by current trends in e-mobility and results in increased global production and record prices for lithium ores and compounds. Pegmatite ores, in addition to br...

Allright, yeah, i have not studied this myself. I've heard of the Lithium potential of Ukraine elsewhere and wanted to mention it.

Just read the abstract but "Lithium and rare-earth elements (REEs) – deposits that have mostly been explored and possess considerable reserves; these deposits are not under exploitation but can be brought into commercial production pending appropriate geological and economic evaluation."
Exploration and mining perspectives of the critical elements for green technologies in Ukraine

Of lithium that is.

According to the Ukrainian geological survey, "Ukraine has one of Europe's largest confirmed reserves". Does not make it a REE, though.

What are Ukraine's critical minerals and why does Trump want them?
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday to discuss a critical minerals deal as Ukraine vies to win the backing of U.S. President Donald Trump at a perilous diplomatic juncture in the war with Russia.
