I don’t think he’s considered legendary for his politics. I think a lot more of it comes down to craft and storytelling.

There is a decent chunk of Spider-Man fans who’s opposition to Paul and Mary Jane being with anybody other than Peter is based in sexism and a way of thinking that men own women’s bodies. It’s a testament to widespread sexism in comic book fandom.

Meanwhile an idealization of the body is one of the corner stones of the superhero genre. Granted the range of idealized bodies in superhero comics has been traditionally narrow and unrealistic, outright toxic in many ways. But rejecting the beauty of the body is going in the wrong direction lol.

I realize that the above posts seem really critical of the sequels and I mean, there is a lot to be critical of with some of those films. But also I genuinely am much more positive on them than most Star Wars freaks lol. You gotta trust me on that.
