Given Red Bull have never seemed to rate him basically ever since he joined AlphaTauri, the cynic in me wonders if part of the reason he was ‘promoted’ was so he’d get thrashed by Max, so they had an excuse to drop him at the end of 2025. His departure had a distinct air of inevitability about it.

Ah. Surprise, surprise…

As for the format (and using your ‘Crazy Ideas For Monaco’ video as inspiration) I wondered how the sprint race would have fared in terms of entertainment if all cars had been required to make approximately six pit stops across the 19 laps.

Out of interest, how do they actually decide them? Do the venues request it? Is it whoever’s offering the most money? Does a committee of FIA/F1 management-type people sit round a table and say “let’s do sprints at that venue, that venue and that venue” each year?

Goodness!! I’d completely forgotten about this!

I was going to say Alonso but assumed you’d left him out as Elkann wasn’t at Ferrari when Alonso was at the team. Nevertheless, your point still stands – countless world class drivers and not a single car that’s been capable of delivering. As a Ferrari fan (for my sins) it’s far past disheartening.

That was an epic era of having graphics somewhat obscuring stuff.

Yet people somehow conveniently manage to completely overlook this very important point. It’s astounding and worrying in equal measure.

I’m looking forward to the official exit poll.

People also go on about how long F1 races are, forgetting that some IndyCar races are almost twice the length. NASCAR, too – I watched a NASCAR race earlier this season which was around four hours long.

Wow. Did wonder if there was any truth to the rumours. Looking forward to reading this once you’ve posted the full article 👍🏻

Actual genuine question: is there a maximum session time for qualifying like there is with a race?
September 20, 2025 at 1:43 PM
And that’s despite that fact that, as a Ferrari fan, my choices are usually laugh or cry, so every session tends to be funny in some way, shape or form. This one really takes some beating, though.

Aaaaaaand THERE’S the expected Ferrari stuff-up completed…
September 20, 2025 at 1:25 PM
What are the rules if qualifying is still ongoing at the same time the race is due to start tomorrow?

I’ve missed him as much as you have.

What the actual? I’m so sorry Hazel 😔

While it’s nice to see young and upcoming drivers get a chance, both Bottas and Perez deserve to be on the grid and have several years left in them – plus I can’t help but feel their extensive F1 experience will be particularly useful to Cadillac in their first three-or-so years in the sport.
August 26, 2025 at 12:06 PM
Yes, absolutely. I love F1 and thought I couldn’t get enough of it, but race weekends have completely lost their sense of special occasion nowadays. As the song goes “I wish it could be Christmas everyday”… except you soon find out you actually don’t.

I remember being astonished by the novelty when it increased to 18 races in 2004. How times have changed…

Makes you wonder if it would’ve been a good idea to take into account the track length when deciding how long SQ3 would last…

What?! You mean there’s no Hockenheim?

Surprisingly, it seems their communications aren’t up to scratch, for some reason.
