...at least it beats Woodward's strategy of: if we give everyone large contracts it will artificially inflate the player's value and will incentivise good players to come. Stupid decision, and incredibly inefficient re: wage expenditure

It's so funny, when they started this having an economics background it was easy to see they were just hoarding under-priced assets and are just seeing which shit sticks to the wall regarding on the pitch. It's a relatively good recruitment strategy but certainly lacks a certain human quality...

1. Certainly helps offset the loss of TAA
2. Probably just a role shift from DS (rival fan but DS is unstoppable) which would be needed anyway given two new very attacking full backs

I think we're definitely seeing a preference among managers to select players that can cope with a number of high intensity sprints compared to ones that cannot, not sure this is a new trend either. I remember In JM's second stint at Chelsea, he sold Mata because of Oscar's physical dynamism...
