This ad should be reported as fraud. Why would anyone torture themselves with driving a car in Amsterdam.

You might have misunderstood what I wrote. I did not write people on benefits would be better off because of the rise in minimum wage.

Can I ask why?

and its inadequate support makes it harder for their children to start their lives too. Whatever stories I hear about aspects of poverty, if it is not about elderly people, there is almost always a single parent household there somewhere.

My observation is coming from what I see among people I know through work and privately. We created a society where single ~mothers have very limited options for work while it is really hard for them to get contributions from ~fathers. This makes them uniquely dependent on the state

The people who benefit most from rising minimum wage are single people living in areas with relatively low housing costs and abundant low wage job opportunities.
November 19, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Okay, but single mothers are a very specific group. The most obvious take no one really talks about is that figuring out how to make the life of single mothers bearable would be the highest impact change a government could do. No exception.

I googled it, it is not just you, and I probably also experienced this unknowingly. This knowledge gained balances out around 0.1% of anxiety I have had due to social media use over the years, but at least it is not 0! Thank you

Dehydration as anxiety?!? I only did the food, sleep, and exercise check-up when I felt anxious, I will add this to the list. It makes so much sense.

There is just no way around getting local authorities to build social housing at scale. As this is not in the large developers' interest, it means this is quite bad.

We don't even ask for a representation of our accent by three dimensional characters on TV and cinema or at least interviewees on podcasts. Yet.

Usually I do like it when I guessed something right, not this time. According to I News or whatever this site is called, they do want to apply this retrospectively. This is so cruel and stupid at the same time!
November 19, 2025 at 3:10 PM
Plus the appeals and the court cases are increasing year by year adding on top of the initial decisions. The only thing missing from the total madness is to announce that it is actually retroactive.

How about students? When they claim asylum they are still able to work 20hrs/w after. That is not enough to live on if they don't have accommodation, but technically they do have the right to work.

My first image was the shop in Budapest '44 in S2 of Russian Doll.

What really did happen during Cooper was that the Home Office raised the notice period for recognised refugees to leave asylum seeker accommodation, but they tried to make sure that no one heard about it. This was an evidently good thing, but they did everything to keep it quiet.

This is just performative cruelty, the other aspects of this "strategy" are a lot more important.
The only interesting aspect is, let's say Sheik Hasana asked for asylum in the UK, would they take her jewellery?
November 17, 2025 at 3:57 PM
How would you even start finding this jewellery with people who crossed Libya, Turkey, Serbia, Morocco led by smugglers? These people have hidden their valuables for years from all kinds of danger, even if there was anything left after the journey, do you think a British border guard will find it?
November 17, 2025 at 3:57 PM
This is all performative cruelty, reaction of doctored images in Daily Mail and other nazi propaganda sites.
November 17, 2025 at 12:17 PM
The most disturbing part is, that there are not going to be any jewellery taken from people coming by small boats. Do you think that people who crossed the EU borderlands (Libya, Turkey, Serbia, Morocco) would have any jewellery left if they weren't real experts hiding it?
