It just keeps happening and no one knows why... 🤷‍♂️

(Though there's nothing "soft" about this denialism on Rogan's show. It's just old-school disinformation.)

Side note – I wonder how two retired scientists in their mid-80s who aren't doing any new research or saying anything different than they were well over a decade ago get onto Joe Rogan's radar, let alone an invitation to be featured guests on an over two-hourlong show. So strange 🤔 (2/11)

This remains the critical question: Cui bono?

Soft denialism has been proven nonsense for 30+ years now.

Who's gained by keeping it prominent?

When historians look back on the intellectualized denialism of folks like Lomborg, Schellenberger, Franzen, Dyson, Lynas, etc. the question to ask is not why these men said these things, but why they were given some of the most noted stages and pages in the world to say them on.

15 years later, still going strong

Can we call a moratorium on self-promoting bullshit "contrarian" views on climate (paging Bjorn Lomborg, Freakonomics guys) already?

Agreed.

Do better, as in a candidate I like more? Yes.

Do better, as in a candidate more likely to win? Not sure.

Winning seems by far the most important criterion here.

Geoengineering as a "fallback plan" is crazy.

Esp when it comes to schemes like gambling on the uncontrollable impacts of dimming global sunshine, claims it's more "realistic" than even rapid, disruptive clean energy deployment and supported mass-relocation are nonsensical

Avoiding geoengineering havoc requires a scientifically informed, globally-coordinated, internationally agreed strategy say Royal Society, lasting for centuries whilst CO2 was removed from the atmosphere
