I‘m not even sure Alpha Centauri was the first to do that plot. It’s a solid power-struggle plot line and the uniqueness will come from the characters involved and their actions.

They are, to be fair, doing a very good job of uniting the country (or at least everyone to the left of Tommy Robinson) against them.

IMO a perceived lack of choice. Also a great many Labour voters probably thought it was just tough talk they’d walk back in reality because in the lead up to the election Labour spoke out of both sides of their mouth on every issue.

I’m glad I’m not the only one whose feed is full of both politicos and gamers.

I heard you like strikes so we put a strike inside your strike.

Pointlessly and self-defeatingly cruel. Unkind to such a degree it verges on parody.

Sorry I didn’t mean to suggest that you said 2, just saying those are reasons I can think of to bring that fact up.

I can’t speak for them but I can think of two points to make with that:

1. FPTP is an awful system and should be replaced with PR and…

What a dorky name for a sportswear company.
November 15, 2025 at 8:56 PM
That might actually help them, mind.
November 15, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Yeah, it’d be far more outrageous if they were being referred to as “Women’s rights“ protests since they’re nothing of the sort.

Eh? It’s not that Greens couldn’t work with him on other issues but if he’s not big on the environment he’s not likely to sponsor an environmentalist bill or whip his MPs to.
November 13, 2025 at 5:26 PM
Flynn isn’t exactly big on positive environmental legislation. He’s a big oil guy.
November 13, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Peter Mandelson? Lie? With HIS reputation?
November 13, 2025 at 11:51 AM
Because opening up more oil fields is a bad idea environmentally and we should be focussing our energy on renewables.
November 13, 2025 at 11:29 AM
I honestly couldn’t say. Normally backbench bills have to be backed by a certain number of MPs I think and not being across this personally I don’t know how tight the numbers are.
