…to all who contribute to it. I hope the current ceasefire leads to a peace that is lasting and ultimately towards permanent Palestinian self-determination, but the world (especially the US) has to commit for the long run, and realize it’s not going to be done in one meeting in one day. (5/5)

Personally, I believe Hamas must FULLY disarm, and disavow violence, in the same way Sinn Fein did in Northern Ireland, if they want to continue as any kind of political entity. Israel should foot much of the bill for rebuilding Gaza, but through an international rebuilding fund accountable…🧵(4/5)

There’s a LOT that still needs to be negotiated. How will Gaza be rebuilt? Who’s paying for it? Who will govern for the time being? Who will keep the peace? It needs to be a regional solution, and a worldwide process. 🧵(3/5)

The peace summit in Egypt yesterday did not include Israel or Hamas. How can a lasting peace be achieved without the two major players signing on to it? I’ve seen this cycle happen more than once: a deal is made, step one is achieved, and it all falls apart by steps two or three. 🧵(2/5)
