(Leaving aside that the big flat file is a silly way to send an update in the first place, but even then it's trivial in terms of resources. It's like they're pretending to drown in a shallow puddle of their own creation.)

Hitting send on an already-prepared file is meant to be more resource-intensive than their proposed continuous interaction where they have to learn how to process the data in a way that would have to be dynamically renegotiated.

Oh man - still up to their old shenanigans I see. Do they really believe their file preparation/transfer excuse will look plausible to anyone?

Oh sorry, I somehow thought from your post that I missed a scheduled alumni event for all students who matriculated that year. I wouldn't expect to gatecrash your D&D group! Look forward to seeing you whenever next works. (I don't understand the Bluesky problem. I replied using Bluesky.)

Oh bother, I missed it.

More than somewhat. They actually write "while attacks against Muslims remain the higher figure". Bleargh.

The latest, UK-specific, incarnation of this folly isn't actually unworkable, unfortunately. The Apple iCloud Advanced Data Protection (ADP) is no longer available in the UK, though apparently available in every other country in the world, including China. support.apple.com/en-gb/122234
Apple can no longer offer Advanced Data Protection in the United Kingdom to new users – Apple Support (UK)
Here’s what it means.

The attempt to keep the so-called TCN secret is also somewhat disturbing. The HO says "We do not comment on operational matters" but that's entirely disingenuous. It's not an operational matter; it's a huge policy change that affects millions. And it would obviously benefit from open debate.

He'd certainly free the PAF!
September 11, 2025 at 8:18 PM
(Another question, assuming you care to go down this rabbit hole, would you ban private tuition outside school? Parents giving their brother's children an extra maths lesson? Parents teaching their own children outside school?)
September 11, 2025 at 8:17 PM
I mean I see where you're coming from, but I don't think I'd like to live in a country like that (though forgive me if I've created a straw man).
September 11, 2025 at 8:12 PM
I guess that's consistent at least. But to make that work properly, would you also regulate which areas people can and can't move to? Otherwise people could congregate in areas where there are people they want to associate with, possibly defeating your "different backgrounds / ideas" idea.
September 11, 2025 at 8:09 PM
Would you ban home schooling?
September 11, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Wow, seriously? Which provider was that? Do you think it was explicitly told to joke around about customers' names, or just told to engage in "witty" conversation? Either way, it's obviously pretty naive to set it on that path.

I agree it's definitely ideal if people share code for everything, though of course it's up to the OP if they want to.

They did call for their audience to murder MPs though, regardless of their attempts to pass it off as a joke.

Brendan Cox: "It wasn't a throwaway remark. It was part of a conversation that they were having about politics, and it was a very clear incitement to violence."

And that's pretty generous - it didn't sound like a joke to me. In Brendan Cox's words: "It wasn't a throwaway remark. It was part of a conversation that they were having about politics, and it was a very clear incitement to violence."

Do we have to call you Dahn from now on?

And can you smuggle unpasteurised Camembert from Québec on the I-87 run in under 12 park stops?

Although you generally want to use a very small amplitude, otherwise you're getting overwhelmed by non-linear effects.
April 9, 2025 at 11:06 AM
So how well does the amplitude for the two straight line paths (that you decompose into) approximate the full path integral in this case? Presumably pretty well. It would be perfect in free space (up to some possibly infinite constant).

He's trying to pretend to be even-handed, but he's still in Putin's pocket. Actually removing essential defensive missiles, weaponry and intelligence is not the same as maybe some day imposing some circumventable sanctions, which won't happen anyway. Obviously Russia has no reason to stop.
March 7, 2025 at 7:14 PM
Corbyn should sue Trump for copyright infringement as was he who pioneered the rhetorical trick of claiming to be in favour of peace, while not proposing any viable mechanism by which peace would come about. (Though TBF Trump has taken it to another level by removing all reasons Putin has to stop.)
March 3, 2025 at 11:51 PM
You could add Boris Johnson's "Trump’s statements are not intended to be historically accurate but to shock Europeans into action." to the inglorious list.
