The invite only nature of Bluesky is what initially attracted a lot of users here but ironically it now be one of the main reasons why Bluesky doesn't reach the same popularity as Threads. No one wants to use 3 different versions of the same app.

There are some concerns about all the data harvesting Threads is bound to do but most users just don't care. If they cared they wouldn't be using IG.

Clone #2: Truth Social
Arguably the biggest success of all the clones. It has 2 million users. With Donald Trump as the figurehead for the brand it seems like the user base is very limited. Although Twitter's emphasis on free speech under Musk is taking away from Truth social growing more.

It failed because of it's emphasis on free speech attracted racists and domestic terrorists who were banned on other platforms. Being the main site for January 6th, Parler got removed from app stores and web hosting platforms basically ending it there.
