Original and Aliens being pretty self-evident of why they're great.
But I also have a fondness for Resurrection. I CAN pinpoint why Prometheus was a huge miss for me:
The obvious lie that it was a new IP and how baffling stupid the people are.

Personally, one of the reasons why I love the Alien franchise is that it's so many things just kind of squished together that it's chaotic:
It's horror
It's classic sci-fi
It's cyberpunk
It's action
It's hard sci-fi
It's space opera
Like it's hard to pinpoint WHAT makes a good entry.
