When I write you are "on the hook" for abatement, there is no requirement to do anything about it, no. But you will feel pressure to do it because of the disclosure laws. I'm saddened after so many years, the majority of retail real estate is not making enough progress to abate this hazard.

Our governments did not ban lead in paint and gasoline early enough, and need to create large tax credits to abate properties, not just make them available to the underserved. Remove the reporting requirement to encourage folks to do more testing, or provide free whole-home testing.

If you do test, good for you, I support it. But then you're on the hook to abate it. Estimates easily reach into the tens of thousands of dollars, and that's only the cost of removal. Windows and stair stringers are the most expensive, so be prepared for new install materials after abatement work.

So what recourse do you have? Don't test, don't learn, live in ignorance. But your pediatrician will recommend you test the levels in your kids' blood. At that point it is too late, because there is no safe level of lead in your body, and it is absorbed 4x as easily in children than adults.

The lead disclosure laws are counter-productive, because once you test, you're required by federal law to disclose the results of that test during a sale or rental of space under your ownership. That has a direct negative impact on your financial situation. A home becomes less attractive.

We're told hazards like lead (and asbestos, etc) are "safe" with the condition "so long as it is not disturbed". That's a high bar. Want to hang a picture? New shelf? Kid bonks toy car into wall? Move furniture? All those can create disturbance, which results in lead dust, the primary vector.

Of course the values may differ if your file system has compression enabled and your data is highly compressed. The data I showed was not compressed, so apparent size was less than on-disk size due to the mismatched data:parity ratio after expansion.

Same thing for ordering our seasonal box of Lebkuchen which you also don't get locally... There are alternatives but they honestly do not taste the same.

How's the fan connected? Where did you get the middle part?

I tried to find the article to amuse myself more, but Kagi wasn't giving me any foxnews URLs.

I realized I had banned the domain in my personalization settings. Go figure.
