These analogue collages made in 2021 are now available to purchase via the website shop. Goddesses, blooms, monstrous bodies and models all sliced and stuck back together with my gluey fingers in the studio.

I queued, I saw, I conquered. Admired and occluded reflections, stolen glances, Venus Pudendica and cobwebbed at the nape. All at the Sir John Soane Museum at Lincoln’s Inn Field.

Some favourites from the Renaissance drawing exhibition at The King’s Gallery. Raphael’s Graces, drawing palimpsests and Da Vinci. I had a little tear over his drawing of the anatomy of bird wings. What can I say, I’m a fool for love.

So a few folks have recently joined the skyline so I thought I’d reintroduce myself. I’m a UK based artist making drawing, collage and painting -I’m interested in historical visual culture and how the contemporary gaze is formed, and a lot of other things!

In the Christmas hinterland of Betwixtmas there is time for toast tapas, strong coffee and Jean Rhys. Can’t believe I’ve never read this.

What is your favorite food from your home culture/country/region that you love, but that folks don't seem to know about or appreciate?

Scotch Pie and mushy peas, as served on wartime blue china in the WI hall in my Northumbrian childhood of the eighties. Accompanied by a Beetle Drive.

Today’s #art #shelfie. I’m trying to tidy the studio while the wind wails around outside. Packing some paintings from earlier in the year. These have stuck around long enough to be signed. (Some get unstretched and rolled, never to be seen again) #painting

Today is publication day of Fragmentary Forms, A New History of Collage by Freya Gowrley. I’m thrilled to be included in the book, and to have my little collage as cover star of such a beautiful and scholarly title. One for your Christmas wish list.

Artist studio #shelfie (remember them?) Watercolour Venus de Milo painted on Wednesday. Somehow the helpless, armless iconic woman helped me process what’s happening in the US. Academic nude drawing after Prud’hon, made yesterday on cheap blue paper. Knackered vintage lamp, 6music on the radio.

I made some pastel drawings recently inspired by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres The Turkish Bath. “The Boys Club I and II.” 40cm dia. Delicious Sennelier soft pastel on industrial filter paper. More incoming.
