SEO since 2005. Agency life for 18 years but I freelance now (hire me!) I'm a huge video game nerd (and geek culture in general), I love creating content (writing, videos, photography), and I may have bright shiny object syndrome with niche websites.
At least they're honest

I had no idea dial-up was still available! We didn't have a computer until we got a hand-me-down from a family member. I had tons of those AOL CDs saved up, waiting for the day I could use one. I still remember how exciting it was doing the trial. It also meant no more library to get online!

The poll on Bing Rewards today. I'm surprised at how high the number is for people who still have CD/DVD drives. I haven't actively used a computer with a CD/DVD drive in probably a decade (though I still have some of my really old computers that do).

This looks like a screengrab from a horror movie

I'm doing a content audit on one my own sites (a site that I've clearly neglected based on the date of the article in this image) and I saw this post where I mentioned my "girlfriend." We've been married for so long that it's just weird to see. It's a little hard to delete old posts like this!

Huh... good point. I guess I'll be eating a sandwich and chips for breakfast around 1pm today.

My old boss used to say "we don't HAVE to work with our clients, we GET to." As an employee, it didn't resonate. But I think of it all the time as a dad. My daughter often asks me to scratch her back before bed. I don't always feel like it, but I'm grateful I get to. And I know I'll miss it one day.

Found at Goodwill for $2! I can't wait to read it in a couple of years when I get through all of the other books I buy. I've seen the author on TedTalk and she was really good so I might move this up in my list.

Ahrefs shows that a new keyword came up for one of my old game reviews from 2013. This site was destroyed in a hack years ago. I fixed the site but lost the images and didn't have backups. But I found the images on Archive.org!

Wow, I forgot how much I liked RE6

My daughter is really into rollerskating, but I rarely skate anymore because I've become afraid of getting hurt. I think as I've become more of a spectator over the years, I've seen too many injuries and it's gotten to me. But I don't want to be afraid! So I went out there today and it felt great .

My wife got me this amazing book for Christmas! I saw it at Barnes & Noble a couple of months ago and thought it was such a cool idea and she remembered. I can't wait to work through it!

I have a feeling that AI is going to be the death of the Amazon Vine program. People in the Vine program are leaving reviews that are so unhelpful. Sure, they sound well-written, but they're practically fake. And they sound like marketing copy. Check this one out.

I'm excited to be starting these two books. One for learning and one for relaxing.

I just finished this book about scaling in ResearchOps. It's not about marketing, but I wanted to learn something new. There are actually a lot of similarities between ResearchOps and marketing, and also leadership, building processes, and growing a business. It was a great read.

Well, I bought a PS5 for Black Friday! And Silent Hill 2 to go with it. 😬 I don't know if I'm ready for the heart pounding anxiety and jump scares.

Bummer. Looks like the November core algo update has taken back some of the recovery I made from the August core update.

I played around with this beauty today. It's the Comica VM40 shotgun mic. The audio it captures is awesome. It has 32gb of storage for on-board recording too. How awesome is that!? I love this mic.

This was such a great interview with Virginia Kerr on the Social Media Examiner podcast. She's a former TV news anchor, now a content creator who teaches video strategy. The podcast was packed full of great info about storytelling, being authentic, and being in front of the camera.
