In the face of urgency, uncertainty and siege it is likely, expected, and intended that we will spiral into cycles of fear and patterns of disassociation. But these are times that require us to be more present and grounded in our power than ever. See you Tuesday on IG @alexispauline

This is an ID photo of Audre Lorde in Mexico where she fled as a student in response to McCarthyist repression. This solstice we are drawing on the student activist Audre, the surveilled suspended protesting sci-fi reading Audre who believed in other worlds and another version of this one.

Whew. It took me some deep breaths and prayers to get this post from a “keep Audre’s name out your mouth” place to an offering of love.
June 7, 2025 at 3:32 PM
But tomorrow (Sunday) I will be sharing the specific reasons behind my belief that Audre Lorde offers a trans-inclusive approach on an IG Q&A in order to equip my beloved community with the best our ancestors have to offer. I love you. See you there Sunday at 3pm eastern. 💜 My IG: @alexispauline

Of course we never know 100% what a person who has died would say if they were living, which is why I wish Audre were here.
June 7, 2025 at 3:32 PM
I have well-researched reason to believe that if Audre Lorde were alive today she would still be in support of all women of color coming across difference, I believe that she would be offering love as an elder to our whole gender-diverse queer community.
June 7, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Like many of you, I was furious to see a transphobic rich white person use a quote from Audre’s Lorde’s “A Litany for Survival” to justify her hateful and harmful attacks against trans women. I don’t play about my beloved community and I know you don’t either.

It it was sweet to reflect with my brave and brilliant co-editors @maiawilliamsxoxo and @chinabodina about how care shaped and reshaped us in the making of Revolutionary Mothering which is about to celebrate its first decade! @blackearthinst.bsky.social

The @biographersintl conference “Telling Stories of Black Lives Through Biography” was such a field of love joy and nourishment. To be among writers and thinkers who deeply understand how crucial our stories are in the times we face right now reinvigorated me for the work ahead. 💜

It is an honor a joy to be part of the 15th anniversary of the BOCAS prize. also difficult to chair the poetry category because SO many brilliant poets of the Caribbean published work this year. Erna Brodber is a treasure. My model for living with infinite love for the folk and the future.
