I’m so thrilled to announce that Survival is a Promise: The Eternal Life of Audre Lorde is nominated for the Brooklyn Public Library Award in Non-fiction! And therefore I will be participating in the Brooklyn Public Library Literary Festival next month! Stay tuned for details NYC family.

Whew. It took me some deep breaths and prayers to get this post from a “keep Audre’s name out your mouth” place to an offering of love.

I have well-researched reason to believe that if Audre Lorde were alive today she would still be in support of all women of color coming across difference, I believe that she would be offering love as an elder to our whole gender-diverse queer community.

Like many of you, I was furious to see a transphobic rich white person use a quote from Audre’s Lorde’s “A Litany for Survival” to justify her hateful and harmful attacks against trans women. I don’t play about my beloved community and I know you don’t either.
