My Amphibian Man is done! Just gotta wait a little longer for him to dry completely before I put him back in the hoop. My favorite part is the soak. Somehow, embroidery looks so good in cloudy water #theshapeofwater @realgdt.bsky.social

Made a lot of progress today! The colors have a lot more contrast than my usual color picking, so it feels very graphic instead of softer gradients.

This one is hard because there's a lot of values and crevices. Because of that, the head is almost all one color right now! I'll go back in with shading and highlights later. This will be the last update before the final piece!

Update! I usually use all of one color before going on to the next, but decided to render all of a small section to test my technique! I'm really glad it's looking the way I want it too, I'm more excited to do the rest of it now!

Update~ I spilt water on my water soluble stabilizer, so its a little ugly 🥲 but it's nice being able to see the design in context with the bright base fabric. This is a bigger piece, but it feels like it's going faster than usual.

Officially started my next piece! The lineart and hair are the only cotton floss I'm using. I tried using shorter, more graceful stitches for the lineart because I'm leaving the background blank and will need cleaner edges.

Acrylic pen drawing at a cafe :) her jacket is based off my own own, but I got the colors swapped, despite literally wearing it every day AND sewing the jacket myself. Welp.

I got a wood burning kit, and needed a box to store it in, so I burnt the box! Went with a fresh water fish theme, and most of them happened to be reddish, so I used vermillion ink and a lil white acrylic for highlights :)

Behold! A weekend full of mending. I may be a careful sewist when making apparel, but I hate mending. Every time I do it, I learn the meaning of "a stitch in time saves nine" and my stitches are almost never in time. Some of my mending was punctual, but there were a lot of holes I had to patch up.
