Maybe. I don't know if they're isolated so much from each other as by their fanbase. I get the impression their audiences, in a broad, cultural sense, are pretty hostile and gross. A lot more Gamer than the type of fans you might want

Yeah I think that like comics, it's a really labour-intensive medium that requires an unusually diverse set of specializations to do it by yourself. And unlike comics, cinematography and writing are not foundational to it.

For sure, but what I'm talking about is like a shot of a lamp, a pan over a rug, the sun through some leaves--in the sorts of scenes where these elements have already been created, grabbing a few shots of them as B-roll seems like an easy way to pad runtime for a negligible amount of work.
