I help build communities because I believe deeply in communities.

Posting about that + tech, education, music, film, art, and...unfortunately...the Brooklyn Nets.
I need all the Pep I can get these days. Not turning down any Pep.

Though nothing will ever top my all-time favorite notification, which told me how many times a song that appeared in a reel that I saved had been used in other reels.

Prize goes to the first person who can give me one rational explanation for what I could do with this information.

If he can figure out the handle I'd be *really* jazzed to have even just a solid 6'9" PG. I'm less excited about him as a wing (imo positionless basketball sounds cool in theory until all five of your guys are mismatched in an insurmountable way).

Yeah. That would probably be mine, too. I was so, so down on that pick (and I'm still not fully convinced he was the right choice at 8) but he's so easy to root for. Seems like the rare guy who can overcome physical limitations through sheer grit. I hope I'm not wrong about that.

Still haunted by the fact that I bought a Dinwiddie Coogi right when they transitioned from Adidas to Nike and the sizing was way different so it didn't remotely fit and they refused to take it back.

Who are you getting? Would love to finally get one but in terms of who to pick on this roster...😬

Honestly I would be pretty satisfied ending up the fourth worst defense! Threading the needle of to be bad enough to get top draft odds but not the worst of the pack would be a win imo.

Anyway, this is in large part brought to you by a question I get a lot: "How can I make a good hybrid experience?"

My advice is do everything in your power not to have one. You'll get a better return pouring your attention and resources into the people in front of you.

Virtual experiences are fine when they're the only thing available to us. And yes, there are ways to make these meaningful. But the benefit is the ease and scale, *not* the experience.

DoorDash is convenient *and* takeout is never better than a meal at a restaurant. How could it be?

I don't see this as a pessimistic or wet blanket take. I see it as radical optimism.

We have at our disposal the privilege and magic of getting to share space with other humans. What a beautiful thing.

Chasing after virtual approximations feels like cheating on the love of your life.

I'd say that building communities is getting more difficult because of the way we now speak to each other online, but I'd argue it's getting a little easier because people are so hungry for a space where they don't feel like they're getting lectured and scolded constantly.

I once wanted to get my team's input on what to cover during community onboarding.

I didn't ask "What should I cover?"

I gave them a table with three cells. I said "You're building this onboarding and you're only allowed to use three slides. Design the slides."

SUCH a productive conversation.
