April and I went to a Wizard of Oz themed party tonight, she went as the beautiful and elegant glinda, and I decided to be the yellow brick road. It was a fan favorite.

anyone else seeing insane tarrif charges? 24% more expensive?!?!

look at these supernatant controls...they saw leakage in their post and just scrolled down in intensity to try to flatten it out. I have NEVER seen an NMR spectrum without resonances look that much like a flat line and then on top if you look at where the deviations from flat correlate with peaks

Switching next to protein protein interactions, we used arguably my favorite protein A34F GB1 to demonstrate that these glycopolymers stabilize protein protein interactions in a similar fashion to protein folding, via chemical interactions.

Next we used variable temperature experiments to determine if these were driven by chemical interactions (enthalpically stabilized) or hard core repulsions (entropically stabilized). Where we saw an entropic penalty to protein folding that was outweighed by an enthalpic gain (Chem Ints)

Using 19F NMR, we first demonstrated that these glycopolymers stabilized SH3 folding in a concentration dependent manner, resulting in stabilizations of >1 kcal/mol at glycopolymer concentrations of 300 g/L

While protein crowding captures the interactions inside of cells, does this translate to the cell surface, where the glycocalyx, a dense forest of charged glycopolymers acts as the last frontier of the cell. Proteins that reside in the glycocalyx are essential to signaling, cell recognition, etc..

Through the ups and downs of the job market, to starting my faculty career, to everything going on today. I could not have asked for a greater group of scientists to learn from, grow with, and call friends . Thank you. @asbmb.bsky.social #mosaicforever

Its weird in the retraction the matters arising isn't linked but the bioarxiv response to it is.? This is abnormal right? Also The link to the matters arising doesn't work
