I can't say anything about theatre and opera, but the literature market might be massive but full of mediocrities. And non fiction books unless it is something German specific, it is better to look for something in English.

I can see that, although looking at the actual situation, and of course hindsight bias and all that, one could argue that the results are mixed, but yeah that's a possible way of making the case.

Isn't that typical of any field regardless of the political potency of the issue. After all, a disfavored conclusion is that the earth is flat. I use the example because of its obviousness, but every field has its preferences.

But implicit in your analysis is that if non-elites cared about trans issues and were somehow conservative then you would agree with 'throwing trans under the bus' as a political move.

While I enjoyed the post, it seems that it mixes the use of violence as a political tool with the fact that parts of the left have an aversion to hierarchical modes of action and with the use of coercion within the legitimate boundaries of authority. To me, different problems.
