I didn't choose this as a Halloween read, but 'Make Me' happens to be the scariest book I've read this year. Lee Child could have made it as a horror writer.

The Murmer of Bees is a lovely novel about a ranching family in early 20th Century Northern Mexico. It was a little slow for my taste, but I understand why it's so highly regarded.
