I've been subscribed to him for years. I work in tech and live in a suburban neighborhood with an HOA. But his stuff is just so good.

OH Half-Life. Me, a grown-ass adult yelping like a little kid in the middle of the night when I rounded a corner and a headcrab (which I've already seen a ton) jumps out of pitch blackness.

The framing of this makes it feel like crypto all over again. And it will probably be the same thing. You'll have AI bros pumping and dumping their next big thing over and over for years.

The datacenter at my company has these instead of battery UPS for the gap of generator startup.

You can't see anything, but they emit an ominous vibration when you're in the room where they're running.

It's true. We all just need to find ours.

In this place. Right now. 65°F, barely a breeze, and the sun setting in a cloudless blue sky, I understand why this is what I need.

Nothing else matters. Nothing else even exists.

For me that's the Carriage House at the Hotel Iroquois on Mackinac Island.

I sit at a table, get a nice cocktail, and the entire weight of life just floats away into the ether.

And on a day like today, where the weather is beyond what anyone would describe as perfect, the effect is so much more.
