Thanks for the heads up! I was not aware of this so I shall look it up!

I haven't read this one, nor do I own an English translation, so can't compare. But it's a dream of mine to one day be able to read Italian. I chose to learn Spanish now for rather practical reasons.

Oh I've had Loop on my shelves for ages (still unread)! I think this it the first time I see someone mention it! I'll have to look up the bottom two; top three are a given!

I know! One of the reasons why it's on my list!

Thank you! Oh I'd love to be able to read Italian! But I think Lettieri did a great job translating it, there's a clear sense of Calandrone's style and the lyricism of her prose feels very natural and on point.

Oh my! Shortly after my move here I remember some downstairs neighbours dancing in the storm as their paved garden flooded. Fun times! But yes, I agree it doesn't storm enough!

I also found Edinburgh not to live up to its rainy and dreary reputation.

Lovely!

Oh yes! Or just random people reading in parks, trains, cafes. If there's something I'm nosy about it's people's reading tastes!

Some people don't care to keep everything they read, regardless of enjoyment level. Or maybe some of these were set text for a course and the person didn't actually care for them. I suppose we'll never know (well unless the unlikely happens: they see the post and solve the mystery for us)

It is possible. I'm a student but none of these books that I do own I bought for a course.

My thoughts didn't go on that grim a route. But it was only a bag of books, not a whole library - from my anecdotal experience most people who donate books to charity shops are alive and well and donating their own books.

(Although they got rid of those books which brings confusion and internal conflict)

Exciting stuff! Congrats!
