A fire burned a popular woodworking shop to the ground this morning. Frontier Woodworks, in Francis, is a total loss.The cause is still being investigated. The owners daughter told me her parents are on vacation in Idaho out of cellphone range and still don’t know it happened. KSL TV at 5 and 6.

Robert Hawkins is a retired police officer but his training kicked in Saturday night. He is one of those credited for pulling a woman trapped in a burning car to safety just before the Domino’s Pizza in Herriman exploded. We’ll have his story tonight on KSL TV in our 6:00 newscast.

It’s become a July 4th tradition in Utah… jets from Hill Air Force Base flying over several cities and towns. This was the flyover in Riverton. We’re doing a story on this event for KSL TV in our 6:00 newscast.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox is asking Utahns, regardless of faith and beliefs, to join in a Day of Prayer and Fasting for rain this Sunday. He spoke with me in Sanpete County today about his State Declaration. This clip is some of what he said. The story will be posted to ksltv.com

Justin Merrell was at Perry Park in Box Elder County yesterday when he saw a large tree branch fall and kill an 80-year-woman. A 28-year-old woman was also injured. The park remains closed. We’re doing a story on this for our KSL TV 5:00 and 6:30 newscasts.

Two weeks ago, I did a story with 94-year-old Chee Secody getting electricity into his Navajo Nation home for the first time. Two nights ago, a fire started in his home that burned everything. I interviewed him again today. We’ll get into what happened in our KSL TV 6:00 newscast.

Nephi has always been a place for travelers on I-15 to stop for gas and snacks. City leaders are hoping to attract even more travelers, and a bunch of new businesses that have opened in the southern end of town the past couple of years are helping. We’re doing a story on this for KSL TV at 6:00.

Tremonton has a new fire chief. The former chief was arrested in January on charges involving sexual crimes against children. The new chief, Jeffrey Jarrow, spoke with me today. I asked him if he thinks he needs to rebuild trust. Here’s his great answer. Full story tonight on KSL TV at 5 and 6.

I feel for those of you traveling south on I-15 near Ogden. There’s a sinkhole on I-15 near Sunset that has traffic down to one lane. We’re heading north on another story and noticed the traffic starts backing up at about 21st Street in Ogden. @ksl5tv.bsky.social

Thousands of Mormon crickets have taken over roads near Holden and Fillmore… and yes, it sounds like popcorn under your tires. “They’re just gross. They’re very noisy,” said Bobbette White, who lives in Holden. We’ll have this story, sound and all, in our KSL TV 6:00 newscast. #utah #ksltv

If you’ve ever hiked the Y Mountain Trail in Provo, chances are you’ve come across Henry Miles. He has done it more than 4000 times. For his 90th birthday, his family, friends, and some hikers he has met surprised him this morning. We’re doing a story with Henry on KSL TV in our 6:00 newscast.

We went to the Fairview Museum of History and Art to do a story with volunteers about how excited they were the Utah Hockey Club officially changed its name to the Utah Mammoth. They figure it might bring more visitors and maybe more donations, which they need. Our story runs on KSL TV at 6:00.

A dinosaur fossil site in St. George won’t go extinct after all. City leaders moved a planned substation to save the dig site, where volunteers uncovered bones, teeth, and possibly even a new species. We’ll have this updated story tonight on our KSL TV 5:00 and 6:00 newscasts 🦖

Ribbons are being placed in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood where 9-year-old Dalton Gibbs was hit by a truck and killed yesterday. I just got done talking to a family friend who said Dalton “was a young shining light in this world.” We’ll have a story on him tonight in our KSL TV 5 and 6 newscasts.

For generations, people in Westwater, Utah, had to hike to this creek for water. Now, this small San Juan County community (owned by the Navajo Nation but not on reservation land) has running water in homes. There’s a celebration in Blanding today. We’ll have coverage today on our KSL TV newscasts.

Utah Park Ranger Brody Young was left for dead at a trailhead parking lot near Moab in 2010. He was shot 9 times but survived. Now, he has written a book about recovery, forgiveness, and hope. He spoke with me about it today. We’ll have his story tonight on KSL 5 TV in our 6:00 newscast.

Saratoga Springs Police says an 8-yr old boy is dead and a 43-yr old woman is in critical condition. A 17-yr old female called police. We don’t know if the woman and child are related. Police also not saying how the boy was killed.

Saratoga Springs police are working on a death investigation just off Willowbrook Lane. The asst. police chief says he’ll give us more information within the hour. There are a lot of officers here.
