Possibly a controversial view but I do think that with the measures above that motorway speed limits should also be safely increased to 80 MPH to match the 130 km/h limit on similar roads in many other countries.

Scrapping smart motorways and putting hard shoulders back would be a massive step in the right direction too.

We seem to be forgetting what happened when a previous British prime minister tried to appease a tyrant. That tyrant was elected democratically by his people too and used the religious right and his close friends to help carry out his policies.
