Some “useup” collages, made from the scraps of other projects. Oldies but goodies.

Tried to out-play my 12yo at basketball practice this week and ended up with a broken leg and torn ligament. Just a lovely reminder that while in my head I am still a teenager, my body has in fact aged.

“For decades, retailers had been run by merchants-people who directed overall assortment and strategy, usually with careers built if not in merchandising itself, then on the sales floor or as buyers or product developers…They learned how to spot trends, select products & analyze consumer interest.”
New Buying Power out today! After 15 years of making their stores worse and alienating customers, American retailers are starting to realize that hiring bankers and consultants to run them maybe wasn’t the best idea. 🎁 Gift Link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

The Walmart Effect. According to new research, “Walmart makes the places it operates in poorer than they would be if it had never shown up at all. Sometimes consumer prices are an incomplete, even misleading, signal of economic well-being.” [theatlantic.com]

Can’t say I’ve ever been woken up by a rocket launch and sonic boom before. Launch from vandenberg was loud enough to wake and shake the whole household.

In 1759, Josiah Wedgwood founded a ceramics company that achieved global recognition and continues production today. Thousands of his glazed samples paved the way for 18th-century ingenuity and are part of the V&A Wedgwood Collection.

My kid successfully unjammed the printer and cleared the print queue with no help and no frustration.

I have never been more proud.

Someone on Nextdoor posted a flaming hot take proposing our freak tornado this weekend was actually evidence of a vast liberal conspiracy targeting redwood trees in order to clear space for more “pack-and-stack” housing.

Ready for some more interesting facts about earthquake magnitude?

Each whole number increase in magnitude is a 10x increase in the measured amplitude (size of earthquake waves recorded on a seismometer), but represents 32x more energy released.

This video gives a visual demonstration.

Do I have to go to the bad place to partake in the earthquake/tsunami conversation? Bluesky isn’t giving what I’m looking for.

Ran the entire length of the Denver airport C terminal today. Made the connecting flight, but not gonna lie, my legs will be feeling it tomorrow. 🏃‍♂️

I went to my first ever indoor school yesterday- kind of wild! I loved how the hallways offered space to showcase student work for all to see.

How fun are these giant California maps?

Here’s a question- where are the non-digital artists, doodlers, people who like to sketch and draw? Is there a starter pack or feed out there for analog art?

Ok two questions then.

I put “books” as an interest so I’m getting a lot of photos of bookshelves in my feed.

Please tell me you all are tidying these up before photographing/posting? They are all so nicely organized and clean.

Here’s a small snippet of what things look like over here.
