Almost done. Border, cut off loom, sew in ends, etc but I think the pattern came out way better with reversing the colors and making the figure white. Pops more.

Couldn’t resist reading The Flying Eyes by J Hunter Holly, simply based on the title. Aside from the aliens being flying eyes, it was surprisingly good. Science was involved which is to my liking, a decent story line, satisfying conclusion. 4.5 stars

I redrew the pattern and am starting on attempt #2. It’ll look a bit different. I like the black and white but I’m running out of black so going with red and white for the next one. It’s supposed to be a person with their arm up. One person’s perspective: “nice octopus.” 🤣

I figured out by the very end what I ought to have done but here’s my first attempt at this design.

Next, I’ll redraw the pattern to make it better suited for the warp width I have.

Now on to sewing in all the ends…

I’m really challenging myself with this one. I had to draw this out from a book, enlarge it then fill in the black parts. Now it’s on to the weaving. Lots of switching back and forth from black to white but thus far I’m happy with how it’s turning out.

I actually do have a plan for my next tapestry weaving but it requires some drawing and making a pattern.

Instead… I’ve been enjoying laying around in my PJs reading (Pandora’s Star by Peter Hamilton) and watching Donnie Darko, directors cut… again. 🤷‍♀️

Okay, here we go with 2nd attempt at circles. Thanks to those who suggested thicker warp. I like it. The only issue is beating it down is very hard. But I’ll take it. Warped tighter and it seems to be making a difference. Thoughts?

Time to take this off and start again. I’m going to use a thicker warp per a couple of people’s suggestion. I also will try this heddle (?). It’s not like the rigid heddles. Last time I tried, the warp kept falling off. Maybe thicker warp will help. Trial and error.

I just finished reading The Fifth Science by Exurb1a.

My preference is hard scifi and this was not that. It was about aspects of consciousness but not in the way I thought. Some of the shorts were good, others less so. I’m curious what others think. 3 stars

Thus far, imperfect circle on the right and some diamonds that were supposed to be smaller circles on the left. I need to rethink it though I suspect small circles might not be doable on this loom. I wish I had a loom that held a closer warp.

Here is another crochet piece I did. It’s a small graphghan blanket, all single crochet. I donated it to an organization for their auction to raise money to help homeless veterans transition into their own homes.
