Is this a competition to see how weird your trolling can get?

Seems pretty clear. Baltimore Penn is the Baltimore station of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Newark Penn is the Newark Station of the Pennsylvania Railroad. New York Penn (what's left of it) is the New York Station of the Pennsylvania railroad. NYP itself is a nightmare to navigate.

Momentum does a great job of highlighting how improvements to existing railroads can provide far better and faster train service. It needs to be combined with controlling the MTA's out of control costs and scope creep, like in the Port Jefferson electrification project that costs 6x what it should.

They are calculating these numbers differently than the LIRR is, as LIRR has over 700k MDBF for EMUs and I can't remember the diesel number, but it was many times lower. So the difference mostly holds up with older equipment.
April 8, 2025 at 9:28 PM
Diesel has a lot of moving parts to make the engine work. The same is true for ICE cars vs. BEVs.
April 8, 2025 at 9:27 PM
I don't know, don't be a selfish asshole?
April 1, 2025 at 10:14 PM
I hope the cops do something useful and arrest your stupid ass the next time you trespass on railroad property. It's selfish assholes like you who ruin nice things for the rest of us.
April 1, 2025 at 2:45 AM
WRONG. It's a railroad.
April 1, 2025 at 2:44 AM
What are you trying to accomplish, other than promoting illegally and dangerously trespassing on railroad property.
April 1, 2025 at 2:40 AM
It's very much NOT a model railroad. It's idiots like you who ruin things for the rest of us. I hope you get arrested for trespassing.
April 1, 2025 at 2:37 AM
I know what it is, I've ridden on it. Doesn't change anything about illegal trespassing on railroad property.
April 1, 2025 at 2:35 AM
Then don't ride there. There is no excuse to be illegally trespassing on an active railroad.
March 30, 2025 at 9:52 PM
The "culture of the mountains" is irrelevant. Trespassing on railroad tracks is trespassing on railroad tracks. This kind of illegal and irresponsible behavior not only puts you at risk, but also the railroad if something happens and they're sued.
March 30, 2025 at 9:51 PM
You don't look like Thomas either. So get off the tracks!
March 30, 2025 at 9:02 PM
You do realize you're not Percy, right?
March 30, 2025 at 8:57 PM
That's one of the theories is that they're looking for more diesel DMs, so what, then they're going backwards and running diesel under the wire?
March 30, 2025 at 6:25 PM
So they would have third rail for running on the Hudson?
March 30, 2025 at 6:13 PM
It might be even more cars than that, I'm thinking locomotive to train ratio based on SLE equipment of 1970's Geeps and the third-hand P40s that probably are in the shop a lot.
March 30, 2025 at 5:12 PM
This still doesn't add up. If they're saying they need something on the order of magnitude of 80-90 cars worth of locomotives, because SLE took 32 M-8s, yet those 32 were planned in all along. None of this makes sense.
March 30, 2025 at 5:10 PM
How would a third rail locomotive work or is that what the batteries are for when it gaps out? Will it have 25hz capability? The MTA has said they don't and they do at various points in time.
March 30, 2025 at 5:09 PM
That sort of makes sense to people who understand nothing about trains.
March 30, 2025 at 5:04 PM
"People need to respect train". Goes to trespass on railroad property. WTF dude?
March 30, 2025 at 4:44 PM
It doesn't matter. It's an active railroad, not a bike path. You're trespassing, and I hope anyone who trespasses on that bridge is arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
March 29, 2025 at 10:53 PM
First, technically WES is one line, not a system. Secondly, SEPTA still doesn't have toilets on their trains, they think they're operating in some third world country.
March 29, 2025 at 10:50 PM
Yeah, this guy is high on something. And the Baffling Battery Blunder locomotives are idiotic, since they could just get locomotives that are 25hz capable, like the ones that run that route today.
