Robert Irwin's brilliant novel The Arabian Nightmare is on sale as a Kindle ebook, for those of you who use Amazon.

The book has many merits, not the least of which is one of the greatest set of chapter titles I have ever encountered:

Excerpt of a work in progress. I used Word's "Compare" tool to redline everything that changed between first and second drafts.

The changes are slightly more pervasive than usual for me (there are some recurring minor changes that show up a lot, making it look more red than it "should" be)...

Huh. I wasn't EXPECTING The Mask of Fear to show up on Entertainment Weekly's "Must List", but I'll certainly take it.

They have arrived.

On-sale date is Tuesday! Early reactions seem gratifyingly positive, but you don't have to like it to buy it--I'll take what I can get!

Last but not least for the day: Rita Ross uses metal sheets and copper tubing to create strange and extraordinary sculptures. Whole metallic ecosystems, brought to life through fire and scrap.

Rob Sakovich does street art, then paints empty spray paint cans to create landscapes. There's something really magical about seeing how the angles work as you walk back and forth in front of the pieces.

Michael Kerbow's apocalyptic industrial visions are just entrancing. Thumbnail images don't really do them justice--the actual canvases are huge.

We'll start with Amanda Wood. The organic quality of her work, the mixture of forms edging right up to surrealism, the commitment to both simplicity and detail... I'd happily fill a house with her work. (I'm thrilled to own two of the pieces shown.)
