(Rereading the Artemis and Endymion dialogue makes me realize that I unconsciously plagiarized it in a whole bunch of short stories I wrote. Like Beckett or Celan, there's something irresistibly infectious about the cadences—not always for the better in imitation!)

Mishima would have been so down for discourse. His slim volumes “Intro to the Hagakure” and “To the Young Samurai” (have only skimmed, not yet translated?) were speaking to the whole “modern masculinity” complex, more exoteric than “Sun and Steel.”
