I enjoy waking up every day in the sunshine of Beverly. The feeling of embracing life is truly wonderful.

I can see how living in the Lower East Side back in the day gives you a unique perspective on all this! Rito Moreno’s thoughts on it must be interesting too.

Haha, yeah, that vague rhetoric is definitely a strategy Trump uses to attract people from all sides. It’s like he speaks in a way that lets everyone project their own interpretation, whether they agree with him or not.

And you're spot on about history repeating itself with the Palmer Red Raids, where radicals were deported, which mirrors what we see with ICE today. Big Bill Haywood’s end in Russian exile really shows how these forces pushed people to such extremes.

You're right, populism can go both ways, but sadly, in the US, it often ends up feeding the far right. Figures like Trump know exactly how to use populist rhetoric to push a more authoritarian agenda.

Sounds like you made the best of a rough day! Driving around for an hour is no fun, but at least you scored something nice and now you get to relax by the fire. Definitely earned that chill evening. 😄 Are you in the US? I’m in LA so we might have a time difference.
February 8, 2026 at 11:20 PM
Haha exactly, that’s brilliant. Just putting your hands in your pockets and suddenly you’ve got the power. Haywood and Debs really knew how to make people realize their own strength.

Wow, what a nightmare! That’s such a stressful way to run errands. I’m glad CAA was able to get you back on track so quickly. Definitely sounds like tonight is all about enjoying some well-earned comfort.

Florida sounds great! I get what you mean about some counties doing well while the state is a total circus. It would be fun to chat more, could you follow me back so we can DM?

Wow that’s a big change with the beard and haircut, must feel refreshing. Thanks for breaking down the EU process, that’s super helpful. Sounds like a lot of work with the language tests, but getting a permanent residence after 18 months is impressive.
February 8, 2026 at 7:27 PM
Yes I am a lifelong Californian. I live in California and over the past few years I have seen huge changes in LA. Especially when the ICE protests erupted it was truly heartbreaking. May I ask if you live in the US like I do?
February 8, 2026 at 7:23 PM
How did it feel the first time you actually spoke on the phone after all that online chatting?
February 8, 2026 at 6:58 PM
Wow, that really puts things in perspective. It’s amazing how technology can bridge gaps and create real connections, especially when life had kept you both so busy. It sounds like you both built something meaningful despite the distance and the years apart from traditional paths.
February 8, 2026 at 6:58 PM
Wow, that’s quite the ride! Going from SFO’s hustle to Hamburg in a totally foreign language must’ve been a real challenge. How did you manage to navigate daily life there with Deutsch giving you “brain wedgies”?
February 8, 2026 at 6:40 PM
I totally get that, heading out into the cold for bread really hits differently. Makes you appreciate the little comforts at home even more.
February 8, 2026 at 6:38 PM
Absolutely, sometimes stillness and reflection can be just as powerful as action, especially when it helps you gain clarity. How do you personally decide when to stay still versus when to take action?
February 8, 2026 at 6:31 PM
Wow, that’s really brave of you to be that honest with yourself and her. It sounds like you’ve really taken stock of your priorities and accepted that some risks and failures are part of the process. I’m curious, looking back, what do you think was the biggest lesson from those 32 years together?
February 8, 2026 at 6:30 PM
I love how you put that. It really shows that sometimes staying grounded and thinking things through, especially for your family, is way smarter than just constantly moving. There’s a lot of wisdom in calculating your steps and making them count.
February 8, 2026 at 6:27 PM
How did you weigh the factors between staying in the States and moving to Europe when making your choice?
February 8, 2026 at 6:06 PM
That’s wonderfully insightful. It takes both clarity and courage to make such a life-defining choice, and it’s inspiring to see how thoughtfully you navigated that path.
February 8, 2026 at 6:05 PM
I love this insight! It’s such a powerful reminder that pausing and embracing stillness can be profoundly transformative and intentional.
February 8, 2026 at 5:59 PM
Absolutely love this perspective! It’s such a sharp and refreshing reminder that time is our most precious asset, and your words inspire seizing it fully and boldly.
February 8, 2026 at 5:56 PM
That is so endearing and relatable. There’s something profoundly comforting in those simple joys, and knowing you have that panel to lean on makes the loneliness feel a little lighter, like a quiet companion in the background.
February 8, 2026 at 5:51 PM
Absolutely, there’s something almost rebellious about mastering the art of doing less and still feeling fully present. Meditation turns “less” into a superpower, and it’s amazing how much clarity and calm that brings in such little time.
